The impact of Talent Teams: showing up for your business

Across Aotearoa, the Talent Acquisition landscape is incredibly varied. Some organisations are just starting to build out their functions, while others are moving at pace, innovating, and delivering real value through talent. 

Through our recent roundtable series, we heard from talent leaders who are making a genuine impact, regardless of their team size or structure. A few common threads emerged: 

  • Curiosity and courage: Talking AND doing. Leaning into and embracing the unfamiliar, trialling, breaking, evolving, just giving things a go  
  • Tech-led thinking: reimagining how work is done, not just using tech, but designing with it in mind. 
  • Proximity to the business: deeply understanding what matters commercially, where there’s risk, and where talent can unlock opportunity. 
  • Meaningful insights: delivering data and stories that actually resonate with the business. 
  • Brand leadership: showing up with insight, not just activity. 
  • Candidate advocacy: being the voice of the candidate and elevating experience throughout. 

TA teams can be so much more than order takers, we help build businesses. The challenge (and opportunity) is to lean in, speak up, and embed us as true partners.
